Antarctic Taishan Camp
The Antarctic Taishan Camp (73°51′S, 76°58′E) is China’s second Antarctic inland summer research station completed on February 8, 2014. It has a straight-line distance of 520 km from the Zhongshan Station and a distance of 715 km from the Kunlun Station. The maximum temperature in summer is -9.2℃, the extreme minimum temperature in winter is -60℃, and the mean annual temperature is -35.3℃.
Polar glacier and meteorological observation system and space physics observation system are mainly deployed in the Taishan Camp. It provides important support for the research of the Kunlun Station, fixed-wing aircraft and Grove Mountain in Antarctica (85km away from Taishan Station). The Taishan Camp can accommodate 20 people for summer every year.
