Antarctic Kunlun Station

The Antarctic Kunlun Station (80°25'01"S, 77°06'58"E) is China’s first Antarctic inland summer research station. It was built on January 27, 2009 with geographical coordinates of and a straight-line distance of 1260 km from Antarctic Zhongshan Station. The Kunlun Station is built at the peak of the inland ice sheet - Dome-A area, with an altitude of 4087m. The maximum temperature in summer is -10.4℃, the extreme minimum temperature in winter is -83.1℃, and the mean annual temperature is -52.5℃.

Scientific research in the fields of glaciology, astronomy, geophysics and atmospheric science is mainly carried out in the Kunlun station. Th station can accommodate 20 people for summer every year.
