Since 2019, China has equipped a AW169 helicopter named "Snow Eagle 301" for its polar scientific research. "Snow Eagle 301" helicopter is equipped with many original technologies, such as fully integrated digital touch-screen glass cockpit, automatic speed changing rotor system and left engine APU mode. With strong power and excellent wind resistance capacity, the helicopter is designed with rotor folding system and strong wind mooring system for shipborne missions. It is equipped with main landing gear anti trap sled and pontoons and life rafts necessary for sea flight to undertake tasks like air commuting, cargo lifting and transportation, iceberg identification, search & rescue during polar expeditions.
